Tested parameters

Total Protein

The Total Protein test measures the total amount of protein in your blood, providing an overview of your liver and kidney function. This test reveals the balance of proteins in your body and can indicate medical conditions such as liver, kidney or inflammatory disease.

Albumin

Albumin is a protein produced by the liver that transports nutrients and hormones around the body, such as calcium, zinc, free acids, bilirubin, hormones and medications. Albumin is the most abundant protein in the blood and its analysis helps to understand whether the liver and kidneys are functioning properly.

Bilirubin

Bilirubin is a yellowish-pigmented substance produced by the liver when it processes old or damaged red blood cells. It is a breakdown product of hemoglobin, the protein that carries oxygen in the blood. Bilirubin is normally eliminated from the body, but high levels in the blood can indicate health problems such as liver disease, bile duct obstruction, or hemolysis (excessive destruction of red blood cells).

Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP)

Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) is an enzyme found in the blood that helps break down proteins. It is mainly found in the liver and bones. Testing for ALP can help check for problems with the liver, gallbladder, or bones.

Gamma-GT

Gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT) is an enzyme in the blood that helps the liver metabolize drugs and toxins. A GGT test can help check for liver disease, bile duct damage, and is also used to diagnose excessive alcohol use, as this enzyme tends to be elevated in people who consume large amounts of alcohol over long periods of time.

Alanine Transferase (ALT)

Alanine transferase (ALT) is an enzyme produced by the liver that helps break down food into energy. High ALT levels may indicate liver damage caused by alcohol, drugs, or viruses (hepatitis).

Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST)

Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST) is an enzyme involved in amino acid metabolism, found mainly in the liver and muscles. Elevated levels of AST in the blood may suggest liver or muscle damage.
