Who should take the test?

This test is recommended for men who want a more complete analysis of their hormonal profile, in order to better understand how their hormonal levels may be impacting their health, well-being and physical and mental performance.

By measuring Total Testosterone , Free Testosterone , SHBG , Estradiol and Cortisol , this test allows you to detect imbalances that may be the cause of symptoms such as persistent fatigue , decreased muscle mass , weight gain , mood swings , low libido or difficulty dealing with stress .

It is a useful tool for men who feel changes in their body or behavior and want to understand whether the cause could be linked to hormones.

Tested parameters

Free Testosterone

This is the amount of testosterone that circulates freely in the body, not bound to proteins. It is the biologically active form of testosterone that can be used immediately by the body. Free testosterone is crucial for bone density, libido, body fat distribution and support of muscle mass. Testosterone plays a vital role in sperm production, healthy sex drive and maintenance of muscle mass and strength. Low testosterone levels can result in lack of energy, fatigue, hair loss, low libido, erectile dysfunction, anxiety/depression and increased body fat.

Total Testosterone

Total testosterone is the sum of all testosterone in the body, including free testosterone and protein-bound testosterone.
Total testosterone is a general indicator of testosterone levels, but it does not reveal how much testosterone is available for immediate use by the body.

SHBG (Sex Hormone Binding Globulin)

SHBG is a protein that binds to sex hormones, including testosterone and estradiol, regulating the amount of these hormones that are available for use by the body. High levels of SHBG can decrease the amount of free testosterone available, while low levels may indicate excess free testosterone. Measuring SHBG levels helps assess hormonal imbalances and the availability of free testosterone, influencing hormone regulation, mood, weight management, and libido.

Cortisol

Cortisol is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands that helps control stress, reduce inflammation, regulate metabolism, and support immune function. High levels of cortisol can be indicative of chronic stress, while low levels can signal other health problems.

Estradiol

Estradiol is the most common form of estrogen, a sex hormone that, although more prevalent in women, also plays important roles in men, including regulating sexual function, bone health, and maintaining cardiovascular function. Abnormal estradiol levels can affect fertility, muscle mass, and body fat distribution.
